Next Steps for Divisional Structure Pilot
I want to thank college stakeholders who have provided feedback and suggestions regarding our divisional structure pilot. The task forces charged with gathering input during fall semester 2022 have summarized their findings in reports that are now available on the divisional structure pilot website. I have also learned a lot through listening sessions with the college’s department heads and Faculty Senate representatives. Those of you who have visited with me during my office hours have also provided valuable insights.
Later this month, I will meet with department heads to review the task forces’ reports and the potential future college organizational charts that various parties have proposed. (You can review the proposed organizational charts by visiting the divisional structure pilot website.) I will also schedule listening sessions with departmental faculty and staff; please watch for a message from your department head regarding the time and place of your department’s listening session.
Next month, we will initiate internal searches for the three divisional deans. I am happy to announce that associate deans from other colleges have agreed to chair the search committees for the divisional deans:
- Arts & Humanities Division: The search will be chaired by Katherine Ambroziak, Associate Dean in the College of Architecture & Design
- Natural Sciences & Mathematics Division: The search will be chaired by Paul Frymier, Associate Dean in the Tickle College of Engineering
- Social Sciences Division: The search will be chaired by Javonda Williams, Associate Dean in the College of Social Work
More information about the divisional dean search process, including a timeline and a complete listing of search committee members, will be posted on the divisional structure pilot website soon.
